Preparing for home care
Deciding on the right care for you, or your loved one, requires careful consideration.
What is Home Care?
Home care provides support, reassurance, and companionship to help you maintain as independent a lifestyle as is possible while continuing to live at home. For all of us, there will be a time where we need that little extra help – this can mean help around the house (with the usual household chores or mobility), caring for ourselves or taking our medication – and at No Place Like Home Midlands, we are happy to provide a dedicated carer or assistant to offer that help and give you the peace of mind you deserve. However, that does not need to mean your home care will be confined to your home. At No Place Like Home Midlands, our carers can help you to continue pursuing your hobbies and other interests, or even just help to maintain your own independence, but helping you to get out and about, including support while you are on holiday or visiting family and friends.
How much care do I need?
This is completely up to you and your needs. Here are some examples of what works for other clients:
- Four times a day with a slightly longer call in the morning
These typically fall at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime with a full wash and dress in the morning. However, you can organize this however it suits you.
- A daily visit
This could be to make sure that you, or your loved ones, are up and dressed in the morning with any medication prompts or help washing. It could be to assist an individual into bed or it could be a companionship call at a time that suits you.
- A weekly visit
This could be for companionship, to help with housework or to assist with fetching groceries.
It is important to remember that these are only some examples: you are in control of your care and you can decide what care you want, when, and how often, you want it.
